Come on in ... Durham's farm gates are open!

One of Durham region's most anticipated farm events is back again for the fourth year!

On October 3 and 4, Gates Open: Savour Durham will showcase regional farms and culinary delights. What better time than a crisp fall weekend to learn about agriculture, taste the seasons bounty and have some simple fun with your kids?

Kick off the first day at Savour Durham Harvest Market in picturesque Port Perry's Palmer Park. Then, take in a lunch made with local foods and enjoy family activities, and more throughout the afternoon.

Saturday evening features a harvest dinner hosted by Kings Court Catering at Knox's Pumpkin Farm in Bowmanville.

The highlight of this weekend is a region-wide farm tour celebrating Durham's natural resources. On Sunday, map out your own route and stop by as many farms as you like to learn about agriculture with on-farm activities. Along the way, savour farm fresh menus designed by chefs from around the region.

With so much to do, stay at one of Durham's bed and breakfasts and make this a true weekend getaway for the whole family.
